Manufacturing sector striving hard to create jobs

The manufacturing sector is under high pressure of job creation this year. Nearly 30% of the manufacturers are expecting to decrease their employment in the next 12 months.


According to the Manufacturing Circle Survey released for the third quarter on Thursday, the sector is also going weaker and weaker in regards to the confidence level.   


Iraj Abedian, the Pan-African Holdings Chief Executive said that “It is rather critical situation as  the manufacturing sector has lost 68,000 jobs both year on year and quarter on quarter. Especially the last quarter was very destructive for the sector in concern to the job loss.”


He also pointed the labour problems in auto and mining sector and noted the manufacturers supplies to the mining sector.


At last Abedian added that “The job status in the manufacturing sector has been badly affected by the strikes led by the auto industry and the National Union of MetalWorkers of South Africa.”
