Department of Higher Education and Training officially estimated that 38,000 Further Education and Training (FET) students around the country yet do not have confirmation certificates regarding the completion of their studies. Some of the students are waiting since last six years.

The scenario came to be known during the oversight visit by the Portfolio Committee on Higher Education and Training in Durban. It is rather unfair that students have to wait for their certificates for a long time and in some cases even for six years.

Upon this situation, the Department of Higher Education and Training is disallowing the entry 38,000

people into the jobs market as they refused to submit the certificates.

DA has repeatedly called for action from Blade Nzimande- the Higher Education Minister on behalf of the FET students, as they were not taking any actions against the suffering of these thousands of students.

Blade also said that “I will write to Zuma requesting him to understand the situation and ensure that all the students will receive their certificates immediately.

Required steps are not been taken by the minister Nzimande addressing the crisis. This is creating a negative impact on the students and inturn the growth of the country. If the students are not allowed to do the job than definitely  a replacement must be found.
